  • According to the American Psychological Association, in 2022, money and the economy were significant sources of stress to most Americans.
  • Roughly 60% or more live paycheck to paycheck (2025, Haverstic, C., Hill, C. MarketWatch)
  • Most young adults lack basic financial knowledge (2013, Carlo de Bassa Scheresberg, Numeracy; Financial Literacy & Financial Behavior among Young Adults, Vol 6)
  • Nearly 30% have below $1,000 in savings (Aug. 2024, Adam, J.; Benninger, M.., Forbes)

This is probably not shocking news to most people. So we worry, don’t talk about it, don’t have enough and don’t know enough. Sounds a lot like my sex life. Humor is important with all these money woes around.

It takes work to get back on track with your personal finance and requires you to look at your numbers (income, debt, savings). However, you also have to examine your spending decisions that may require a more thoughtful review of your childhood money narrative, related belief system and needs for your purchases. I think it’s important that we take a closer look at our personal money mindset. I hope to be providing more resources on this site in the future.
